Exhibition of BH Artists “Hands Raised" at IUS
On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, an exhibition “Hands Raised" was opened in the Art Gallery of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS). The works of contemporary Bosnian artists are presented in which hands /hand appears as one of the main motives.
Curator of the exhibition, associate prof. dr. Meliha Teparić opened the exhibition with welcoming words with the emphasis that the concept of the exhibition was inspired by the book of Oto Bihalji-Merin, Re-vision of Art. Opening the exhibition, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social and Political Science of IUS, Dr. Gorčin Dizdar introduced the guests present with the symbolic use of hands in artistic expression.
The concept of the exhibition titled "Hands Raised", selects the works of contemporary Bosnian artists in which one of the main motives are hands. Hands, a gesture of the hand as a powerful symbol in the art transmits a message; the hands shown in the picture are usually the "verb" of the visual language. In the work of Bosnian artists, they find works that, with motifs of their hands, express prayer, provocation, communication, communion, salvation, and miracle.
The exhibition features works by artists: Asim Đelilović, Mirza Hasanefendić, Velija Hasanbegović, Stjepo Gavrić, Taida Jašarević, Alma Suljević, Roman Sulejmanpašić, Meliha Teparić and Safet Zec.
The exhibition is open until May 24, 2018.
